The Burnout is REAL
It has been an ongoing dystopian nightmare for a while. I see a lot of what's going on with people in general as a coach. Since 2020 people have been really trying to find a 'new normal' and we are no exception!
Here are some ideas to reset your lives and nervous systems to be able to recover better!
Your Physical Health
Are you remembering to take your meds? Getting enough sleep? Dealing with getting a diagnosis for nagging medical issues? It's so important to take care of your physical health first. If your nervous system is shot it's very hard to make choices or cope with stress. Hydrate. Eat nutritionally dense meals. Get enough rest and sleep. Move your body in ways that keep you kicking up endorphins. Gentle walks do more good than you think. I rely on my slip on shoes for days when I can barely stand putting clothes on. I've owned 2 pair and honestly I'm gonna need more. I also like Adaptocrine for stress adaptivity it's just a supplement but it takes the edge off and helps your adrenals recover after ongoing stressful periods. Check with your doc that it doesn't interfere with your meds. CBD can be helpful too. My other fave for witchy woo woo types is Rescue Remedy with essential oils that you can put under your tongue for instant stress help.
Are you having any Fun?
No really. I've been having so many dreams I'm out on Halloween or drinking with friends. I hardly ever go out drinking with friends anymore or have hours of play time. I'm cough cough not THAT young which sometimes means it's easy to fall into a rut especially if you have needy pets, spouses, or aging parents. We can feel that all so familiar pressure that we aren't doing enough or that our dreams haven't come true YET. It can be depressing! It's so important to blow off some steam. Play a game of darts with pals. Go on a different kind of date. . . Book a lesson to try something new. I miss horseback riding. I have got to get back into social dance! I NEED time with pals. It is a need not a want to do things that bring us joy and make us feel like ourselves. Work and family are noble sure . . . BUT without something just for you it's a recipe for burnout and feeling like you've lost yourself. If you're lonely there's always Meetup.com to meet new people and do things that you've been wanting to try from knitting, foodies, singles, and adventuring like hiking groups or rock climbing you name it!
Before you are like I can't AFFORD fun here are a few ideas/resources
Look up free events in your area. Just getting out into some fresh air and sun and walking around does wonders for your mood.
How is your Cash Money?
I hate to say this but money makes the world go around! Money is just a form of energy. It is choices. It can be joy when spent well. I have some for sure favorite resources for money and money mindset.
If the last few years kicked your @$$ post pandemic you might want to consider consolidating your debt.
I'm a huge fan of cash method for savings. Yes I have cute envelopes I got off of etsy. I used my label maker to label them by category for things I want to be able to splurge on like my birthday, or fall candles etc.
52 week savings challenge. This is a similar idea. They have really fun ways to save 5000 a year in cash by doing a little bit a week. When something feels really daunting break it down into bite sized pieces!
Read money books
like Rich Dad Poor Dad or mindset books like Get Rich Lucky Bitch. My all time favorite is
Living the Savvy life. It is such a great way to think about money in terms of your personal happiness and priorities.
Take free classes on financial literacy
Find an app or program to budget on. Color coded categories etc. works for me. I HATE budgeting, so I have to try to make it more fun and understandable for my ADHD brain.
